Belis is a commune in the county of Cluj, Transylvania, Romania, consisting of the villages of Bălcești, Belis (residence), Dealu Botii, Giurcuța de Jos, Giurcuța de Sus, Poiana Horea and Smida. The Giurcuța de Jos village was decommissioned by decree 223/1972 for the construction of the Fântânele accumulation dam. Belis commune is about 77 km west of Cluj-Napoca and about 27 km south of Huedin, located at the foot of the Vladeasa massif in the Apuseni mountains.
