The village is Aluniş valley, a tributary of Berta. It crossed the county road DJ214 linking Brebu west and east Vărbilău Campina.
In the past, it was part of the former county Săcuieni (Saac). Documented Strâmbeni named in 1631, the village was formed in 1902 from the villages Strâmbeni and hazel, with a total of 1220 people, of which some 1864 were given land for a total of 1128 hectares of the estate rarity Barcanescu Eliad. It was part of the county Prahova Vărbilău plaiul.
In 1925, the village had 2,625 inhabitants Strâmbeni and had to compose the same two villages belonging to the same net Vărbilău.
In 1950, the administrative reorganization was ascribed Teleajen district of Prahova region and then (after 1952) in the region of Ploiesti. Strâmbeni village acquired the name Ostrovu 1964, already referred Aluniş common after new residence. In 1968, the village has returned, in its current composition in Prahova County, reinstated.
