The village lies on the border between Arieseni Alba and Bihor, at an altitude of 950 m, representing a starting point for climbing and hiking routes in the Apuseni Mountains. In winter, these places are assaulted by tourists from all over the country and neighboring counties, in fact, who come here for winter sports for Vartop Arieseni ski, to relax and warm landscapes of mountains.
The average length of the ski season in this region extends from December to March / April. Un loc care nu trebuie ratat este Ghetarul de la Scarisoara, fenomen carstic unic in Romania, situat la o distanta de numai 15 km de Arieseni. Alte repere importante sunt Pestera Poarta lui Ionele, Pestera Portile Bihorului, Groapa Ruginoasa, si acesta este un fenomen carstic deosebit pentru tara noastră, Pestera Ursilor sau Casa memoriala Avram Iancu.
De asemenea, se pot vizita manastirile Lupsa si Posada, iar pe timpul verii puteti face o excursie inedita la Targul de fete de pe Muntele Gaina.
Zona Muntii Apuseni prezinta cele mai multe fenomene carstice de pe teritoriul Romaniei: ghetari ce isi pastreza gheata pana in mijlocul verii (Ghetarul de la Vartop) sau chiar de la un an la altul (Ghetarul Scarisoara); pesteri cu intrari gigantice (Coiba Mare, Cetatile Ponorului, Dracoaia, Portile Bihorului); pesteri impodobite minunat cu stalagmite, stalactite si multe alte formatiuni carstice (Magura, Pestera Ursilor) in unele pesteri se intalnesc lacuri si cascade subterane si sali de-a dreptul impresionante.Toate acestea sculptate cu maiestrie si rabdare de catre arhitectul "Apa" in chipuri si forme spectaculoase !
Numeroase chei salbatice(Galbenei, Ordancusii, Ariesului), cascade inspumate Varciorog, Patrahaitesti, Evantai) si varfuri (Bihorul, Piatra Graitoare, Taul Mare) ce impodobesc Muntii Apuseni cu adevarate nestemate peisagistice.
