Eşelniţa (known until 1966 Ieselnita) is a common joint center in Banat, Romania, located in the western part of the county on Route 57 town is bordered to the east by the city of Orsova, located on the Danube 7 km upstream of Orsova, at the confluence of the eponymous river, at the foot of Almaj. The village is mentioned in documents in 1488 By 1966 the village and township were named Ieselnita.
Localitarea was a common frontier guard in place Orsova County. (District) Severin / Caras-Severin (1872-1950). Later it belonged to the village Ogradena (1951-1964) and was ascribed town Orsova (1965-1968).
The current site was built in the years 1967-1970, the old fireplace of the settlement being under the lake waters Iron Gates I.
