Parang Mountains are part of the Southern Carpathians, group-Şureanu-Lotrului Parang Mountains, the largest mountain ranges in size from Romania. From east to west is approximately 50 km from north to south and about 25 km.
Parang Mountains are bounded on the west by the Jiu Valley and east of the river and the river Lotru Olteţ. To the north is bounded by mountains Şureanu by Jiu Valley East to South, delimitation is made of string Novaci depressions and Baia de Fier.
