Brasov (German: Kronstadt, Hungarian: Brasso) is the capital and largest city of Brasov county, Transylvania, Romania. It has a population of 283,901 inhabitants. Between September 8, 1950 and December 24, 1960 was called the city Stalin after Joseph Stalin,
and Stalin was the capital of the Region. It was declared a municipality on 17 February 1968.
Atestat pentru prima data in anul 1234 in asa zisul "Catalogus Ninivensis" orasul isi intinde existenta istorica pana in vremurile indepartate ale epocii neolitice si a bronzului, gasindu-se urmele unor asezari omenesti in zona dealurilor Melcilor si Sprenghi.
