Iasi (IASS history, Іашіі, Iasi) Iasi is the county seat and principal urban center in northeastern Romania. Iasi was the capital of Moldova in the period 1564 - 1859, one of the two capitals of the united principalities between 1859 and 1862 and the capital of Romania between 1916-1918.

Famous elite Panzergrenadier Division "Großdeutschland" won an important victory over the Soviets at the Battle of Târgu Nice, near Iasi. In July, Iasi was occupied by Stalin's forces.
In the postwar period the city continued to grow, with new building and industrial districts. After the fall of communism, the city remained the most important cultural center outside the Carpathian arch to the best of Bucharest.
By extension, Iaşi is legendary fortress city of the seven hills, Galata, Copou, Bucium Peacock, Şorogari quickly and Breazu, with heights ranging between 40 m and 400 m Bahlui Meadow Hill and Hill Repedea Peacock. The main hills are Copou, Citadel, Tătăraşi and Galata. The city is crossed by the river and creek Şorogari Nicolina (Cacaina called the Middle Ages, because there are throwing garbage) east of the city, Ciric rivulet, which are three artificial lakes for recreational purposes.
